Our Second Annual Brunch for Babies will be held on November 23, from 11 am until 1 pm, at The Branches Club, 11318 Winding Branch Circle, Dunwoody, GA 30338. It will be a fun, ladies' luncheon to benefit the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Tickets may be purchased by donating $30 on this page. Brunch will be served and we will also have a silent auction and special drawing, where people can donate $20 for a chance to win over $1,500 in gift cards to some of Atlanta's best restaurants. To enter the special drawing, people can simply donate $20 per ticket and send an e-mail to brunchforbabies@gmail.com with their name, phone number and amount of tickets purchased. The winning ticket will be selected at the Brunch for Babies charity event on November 23.
Supporting children's hospitals, and specifcally NICUs, is very important to our family. We originally began fundraising for the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia NICU back in 2014 in memory of our daughter, Harley. After moving to Atlanta in 2016, we decided we wanted to do something in support of the local children's hospital NICU.
Harley was born on June 1, 2013, at 27 weeks, along with her twin sister, Micah. Harley was 1 lb., 13 oz. at birth and Micah was 2 lbs., 2 oz. Harley spent 8 1/2 months in the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia NICU before passing away on February 15, 2014.
Harley was born with two very rare abnormalities, a type 4 laryngeal cleft and microgastria. Harley underwent surgery to repair the laryngeal cleft in November 2013, and the surgery was successful. It was the first time this specific surgery was ever performed at CHOP, and it was only the second time in history it was ever performed on a baby with her rare airway defect. Harley passed away of other unrelated issues.
Harley was so strong and overcame many great obstacles in her short life. She made a tremendous impact on everyone she met and those who heard her story. She will forever be in our hearts and we will love her forever.
We would appreciate any donations, big or small, to honor Harley's memory. All donations will go toward helping babies and NICU families in need at CHOA.
