 Every dollar of the funds raised here will support the research of Dr. Saul Karpen and his team at Emory University and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. Dr. Karpen is Meredith's doctor and has recently made ground-breaking discoveries in his biliary atresia research. The work happening now at our hospital (CHOA), by our doctor (Dr. Saul Karpen), could forever change the world of pediatric liver disease. We're excited that you'll be a part of this amazing research!

Meredith Brown is a survivor of biliary atresia and a liver transplant. When Meredith was diagnosed at 7 weeks old (March 31, 2017) with a rare pediatric liver disease, we heard the words "biliary atresia" along with “cause and cure unknown.” This fund is intended to honor Meredith’s courageous fight against the relentless disease of biliary atresia. There is far too little funding for and research of the disease, and that is unacceptable. We dream of knowing the cause of biliary atresia and finding a better treatment than organ transplantation. That's why our family, other CHOA donors, and a local family trust have committed to collectively raise $1 million by 2022 to fund biliary atresia research.
