On February 24, 2023 the Wende family faced an unthinkable tragedy, their daughter was born four months early. Avery Tessa Wende weighed in at just over a pound and fought hard for life. Sadly, on March 3rd, she passed away. 

Avery's dad is a goalie for the Georgia Swam lacrosse team. The team has been rallying around them and showing their support with helmet stickers in her honor.  

Inspired by the Georgia Swarm team, Karaline Apoian started the #GoalsForAvery campaign and is dedicating her lacrosse season to Avery Wende's memory. For every goal she makes, she will donate $5 to support Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.
