Brunch for Babies
The Sixth Annual Brunch for Babies will be held on November 16th, from 11 am to 1 pm, at 5825 Mitchell Rd., Sandy Springs, GA 30328. Brunch will be served and there will also be an amazing silent auction. Please consider making a donation here or through Venmo @Jodi-Kalson. This year, part of the proceeds will go toward making baskets for the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta NICU nurses as part of Micah's Mitzvah Project!
Supporting children's hospitals, and specifccally NICUs, is very important to me. I originally began fundraising for the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia NICU back in 2014 in memory of my daughter, Harley. After moving to Atlanta in 2016, I decided I wanted to do something in support of the local children's hospital NICU.
Harley was born on June 1, 2013, at 27 weeks, along with her twin sister, Micah. Harley was 1 lb., 13 oz. at birth and Micah was 2 lbs., 2 oz. Harley spent 8 1/2 months in the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia NICU before passing away on February 15, 2014.
Harley was born with two very rare abnormalities, a type 4 laryngeal cleft and microgastria. Harley underwent surgery to repair the laryngeal cleft in November 2013, and the surgery was successful. It was the first time this specific surgery was ever performed at CHOP, and it was only the second time in history it was ever performed on a baby with her rare airway defect. Harley passed away of other unrelated issues.
Harley was so strong and overcame many great obstacles in her short life. She made a tremendous impact on everyone she met and she continues to make an impact on those who hear her story. She will forever be in my heart and I will love her forever.
I would appreciate any donations, big or small, to honor Harley's memory. All donations will go toward helping support babies and NICU families in need at CHOA.
