Camp Independence

Camp Independence is a week-long, residential summer camp for children and adolescents with kidney disease, on dialysis, and solid organ transplant recipients. Each summer, over 100 campers are able to experience camp, build friendships, and make memories that last a lifetime. Hosted at Camp Twin Lakes, a fully adaptable facility, Camp Independence promotes independence and socialization between peers. After spending a week at camp, campers feel less isolated and alone in their experiences. They are able to meet and connect with others who share similar medical diagnoses, giving them a sense of community and belonging. A team of highly skilled and licensed medical professionals, including physicians and nurses, provide around-the-clock, on-site medical care for the entire week, allowing patients to have the normal childhood experience of camp and giving parents peace of mind that their child will be well cared for.
