Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is built on a foundation of
generosity. More than a century ago, a transformative gift from a prominent local insurance
agent named Thomas R. Egleston changed the future of healthcare for Georgia’s kids. His
will directed $100,000 to be used to build and provide annual support for a children’s hospital in Atlanta
named in honor of his mother, Henrietta, who tragically lost four of her five children to
childhood diseases.
