Mattel has added more diverse dolls to its "Barbie Fashionistas" line in an effort to encourage inclusiveness (dolls with wheelchairs, prosthetic limbs and scoliosis braces).

Toys that represent the scoliosis or prosthetic limb population not only help the patients themselves, but every child who plays with these Barbies will grow in understanding that every body is a beautiful body.

Being diagnosed with scoliosis and prescribed a brace can be the start of a scary and overwhelming journey. Barbie has branched into offering a doll that has all the visible signs of scoliosis and even has a removable brace!

Giving a child a doll that looks like them provides comfort and makes the journey less scary and more manageable.
