The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) infant sleep guidelines will be followed for infants for the first year of life unless medically contraindicated. Approximately 3500 infants in the US die every year from sleep-related deaths, including Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID). Infants should be swaddled in 1 blanket or placed in a sleep sack (wearable blanket) for protection against SIDS or SUID.
