Every year, the Community Bankers Association of Georgia members raise critical financial support for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta (Children’s). We are proud to have raised over $596,000 for Children’s since we began our fundraising efforts in 1989. During the 2017 - 2018 fundraising season, our funds benefitted Children’s Aflac Cancer & Blood Disorders Center, one of the four largest pediatric cancer centers in the country, and the largest in the Southeast. Funds raised during the 2018-2019 term will benefit the same worthy cause.
The Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center is home to one of the largest clinical trial programs in the country, offering their patients access to some of the most novel treatment options in the country. Still, pediatric cancer research receives only 4 percent of all federal funding for cancer research. All kids with cancer need our research funding so that Children’s can ensure that kids don’t have to go out of state for the best cancer care, that Children’s can help kids manage pain associated with cancer and blood disorders, and so that we ultimately find a cure for this grueling disease.
